Basic Science Research

Developing future therapies is integral to improving the long term outcome of babies with brain injuries. The goal of the basic science research being performed in the network is to develop new therapies which can be used in the future to treat babies with brain injuries.

These new therapies will include neuroprotective medications, development of growth factors which can decrease brain injury and the development of regenerative medicine strategies using various cell based therapies (commonly referred to as stem cell therapy).

The basic research portion of the network will serve as a pipeline to develop new therapies in the future enabling the network to continuously proved the neonates in the State of Florida with exciting new therapies.
